Effective and Holistic Lockdown Routine for Children

  • 7 May

The lockdown can take a toll on your child’s daily routine. It impacts their health and overall mood throughout the day. A good lockdown routine ensures that children are active even when locked within four walls. Here, we list the best lockdown routine for your child that will help to keep their overall health in check.

1. Start the day with a holistic and healthy break-fast

This is the most significant part of the routine which sets the tone for your child’s entire day. A healthy breakfast such as milk, eggs, fruits, and vegetables keeps the body nourished. Staying indoors could cause vitamin D deficiency due to lack of sunlight. This is why milk and milk products in the right proportion could make a massive difference. Also, avoid processed food and sugars. Stick to healthy and natural sugars like fructose from fruits.

2. Follow it with exercise diligently

One of the major drawbacks of being locked inside your home is the lack of physical activity. This could lead to a negative impact on both the body and mind. Plan a new physical activity every day for your child. On one day you could opt for some cardio-based activity or power yoga and on other days you can try a new sport that can be managed indoors. This makes sure that your child stays fit and active without losing interest in the routine.

3. Keep constant learning alive

Lockdown should never hamper your child’s future. Education is the foundation of a bright tomorrow. Reputed schools like The Cambria International School, design a well-balanced and innovative curriculum to keep effective learning alive even during the lockdown.  Creative techniques to impart internationally aligned knowledge and skills accelerate your child’s learning, keeping the grey cells up and running.

4. Indulge in some creative activities

Whether it is communicating with classmates through a virtual model or participating in some e-workshops organized by international schools, creative activities during the lockdown have the potential to enhance your child’s emotional quotient. It equips them with the ability to think outside the box, promoting problem-solving skills, independent thinking, and an innovative mind-set.

5. Don’t take mid-meals and power snacks for granted

This is a primary rule of a balanced diet. Make sure your child does not consume too many calories at once. Plan a holistic diet incorporating small meals throughout the day for constant energy. Also, add all food items in controlled portions that supplement the basic elements such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, essential vitamins and minerals.

6. Meditation time is key

Never under-estimate the power of starting meditation from a young age. Get into the practice of deep breathing and plan mind-fullness activities for your child, either at the beginning of the day or at the end, to calm and relax their nerves.

7. Get a good night’s sleep

Last but not the least, keep your child’s sleeping cycle fixed. Ensure that they sleep and wake up on time. Completing an entire 8-hours sleep strengthens the mind and body, giving it enough time to rejuvenate itself for the next day.

Lockdown can be a hectic time for you and your child. Follow this routine and see the positive difference it makes for your child’s body and mind!
